Clemson DE might need surgery on shoulder this season

by - Assoc. Editor -

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney spoke to the media following Thursday's practice and shared that freshman defensive end Logan Rudolph has an injury with his shoulder that will more than likely need surgery this season.

"Logan Rudolph has been out," Swinney said. "We're going to try to get him back into practice soon. We're going to have to harness that shoulder. At some point he's going to have to have surgery again on that shoulder to fix - he's got a little piece in there that's got to be repaired. He probably could play. If we end up making the decision to play him, he'll probably miss spring. We don't have to make that decision right now. We'll just see what happens in camp and keep bringing him. He could play but he's going to have to get used to wearing the shoulder harness. He's another guy we'll get back in practice and see how far we can get him."

As a tight end as a senior in high school, Rudolph caught 50 passes for 502 yards and three scores last season. Defensively, he accounted for 60 total tackles, 14.5 sacks, an interception and four forced fumbles. During the Dorman game, he tore his labrum in the first quarter of action.

Rudolph is the younger brother of Oklahoma State quarterback Mason Rudolph and his former Northwestern head football coach Kyle Richardson is now a coach at Clemson.
