broke a finger in his hand and is currently wearing a cast.

"Mark Fields broke a little bone in his hand," Swinney said. "He is probably going to have a cast on his hand for about four weeks or so."

Swinney doesn't think the injury will force a redshirt for Fields.

"Not right now but it could," Swinney said. "We know he could help us. He is going to be a special teams guy too. We are pretty good in the secondary, but he is a guy that we think can help us somewhere down the line as the season goes. But that is something we will evaluate as far as if we had any setbacks with the bone in his hand. We don't anticipate that. We feel like four weeks or so maybe we can get him out of that cast. Again we don't play for two more weeks, and you got a couple games then an open date. Then you are in October quickly. We only play three games before October, so we got a long way to go. It's a long season. Right now our decision was to play him. We will talk about it again Monday, but I don't foresee that changing."
