Cam Newton says he's pulling for Clemson to win title |
Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton told the media Sunday that he is pulling for Clemson to win the College Football Playoff National Championship.
Newton has been friends with Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson since Watson attended one of Newton's camps a few years ago, and the two have kept in touch. Newton, who won a National Championship with Auburn in 2010, said he hopes Watson contacts him before the big game. "I’m pretty sure he knows he can contact me," Newton told the media after the Panthers' win over Tampa Bay. "I’m rooting for those guys. With me analyzing his game and me being able to play both Clemson and Alabama six years ago, the teams that give Alabama fits are teams with mobile quarterbacks. I think Deshaun is right for being a person that can be the kryptonite to Alabama."
