was once again a non-factor. The team’s 2010 first-round pick rushed just two times for 5 yards in a 27-11 loss to the New York Jets. Spiller has just 17 carries for 112 yards and 13 catches for 64 yards this year, but he’s not to be blamed for the lackluster production, according to coach Chan Gailey. “When we drafted him [Spiller] we thought there would eventually be a need there that has not shown itself to be. It’s not his fault,” Gailey said. “Fred Jackson’s playing extremely well right now. How do you take him out of the ballgame?” While it’s true that taking Jackson out would be a bad idea, it’s still a disappointment the Bills haven’t found a better way to use the ninth overall pick in the draft. Gailey said Spiller is likely to serve as a hybrid running back/receiver the rest of season.
