was diagnosed with a calf strain instead of the originally reported high ankle sprain. A calf injury is much less severe in most cases than a high ankle sprain.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll talked about the injury to ESPN 710 Seattle on Monday.

"Maxie was playing his tail off," Carroll told ESPN Seattle. "He had four or five plays there where they went after him and he made every one of them. He was really on it. Then he has this really unusual step he takes on the play he makes on the crossing route and it is not a high-ankle sprain we found out. He's got a calf strain, which is better than a sprain and we'll see what happens with that."

Maxwell was drafted by the Seahawks in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL draft. He had 48 tackles as a senior at Clemson and finished his career second in school history in special teams tackles. Maxwell appeared in 53 games for Clemson, but made only eight career starts, all during his senior year.
