has been named one of 20 quarterfinalists for the 2014 Lott Impact Trophy. The award is presented each year to a defensive player in honor of former Southern California defensive back Ronnie Lott who went on to a Hall of Fame career in the National Football League.

The award is give to the player who exhibits the same characteristics Lott embodied during his distinguished career: Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity. Voters for the award include selected members of the national media, previous finalists, the Board of Directors of the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation and a distinguished group of former college football head coaches.

UCLA Linebacker Anthony Barr won the award last year, while current professionals Manti Te’o, J.J. Watt and Luke Kuechley have also won the honor.

Beasley, the only defensive player in the nation who is a returning consensus All-American from 2013, has eight sacks and 10.5 tackles for loss in seven games so far this season. He is fourth in sacks and second in sack yardage in addition to ranking 12th in the nation in tackles for loss.

Beasley has 29 career sacks, first in Clemson history and more than any other active FBS player. His 221 career sack yards are 83 yards more than any other active player. He is also second in career tackles for loss among active players with 41.5.
