ACC coaches talk anonymously about Clemson |
Athlon Sport released its latest article on Monday with
anonymous ACC coaches discussing different schools including Clemson and the team's possible chances to make it back to the National Championship game.
"It’ll be interesting to see this year with what they lose and the expectations being so high, how they handle all that coming back," Anonymous ACC coach said. "Looking at [Dabo Swinney’s] quotes from the spring — and he’s kind of full of it, so you never know exactly what he’s thinking — but he said they had an awful spring, and they’re in for a rude awakening. But that sounds like motivation stuff. They’re a good team. They’ll go as far as Watson takes them." Here is another coach's honest take on Clemson's offensive and defensive scheme for the upcoming season. "They’re not like some dominant team up front, and I thought they did a good job with their scheme to get more out of the running game last year," Anonymous ACC coach number #2 said. "They don’t ever block vertically. Everything they do is laterally, but that’s just the spread offensive running game. They have some big linemen, and they do a good job putting their body on people, and [Wayne] Gallman runs hard. But they are not going to knock anybody off the ball." Today is the Fall camp report day for Clemson, and the Tigers will open the season with SEC foe Auburn on Saturday, September 3 at 9:00 p.m. EST.
