Position: Head Coach

Forbes.com has put out its annual ranked list of the most powerful coaches in college football and Clemson's Dabo Swinney appears on the list (1st time) at #4 overall.

The Forbes' rankings consist of a coach's salary, school's total coaching budget, athletic spending and cost of employer to terminate the contract at the end of the year.

(via Forbes) He’s the lowest-paid of the ten men here, with a salary of $3.2 million. Yet if Clemson were to fire Swinney next year, the school would reportedly owe him close to $21 million, which is just $4 million less than it spent on its entire football program last year. And the $22 million of that spending not going into Swinney’s pocket makes up nearly 30% of Clemson’s total athletic expenses, the fourth-highest mark for coaches on our list.

That buyout is embarrassing***

Only if you have no faith in Dabo Swinney***
TigersAndCubs
It's about business, not faith. Lopsided buyout=one way risk
Razzmatazz
It could be a good thing. If it allows Dabo to take some
tigertrain
By that logic, why not grant a $100M buyout & MORE freedom?

Now that's cutting to the chase... even if it's years late.***

Irrelevant. Apparently you didn't comprehend what I wrote.

So it's power relative to the university, not power relative

He's essentially guaranteed the full value of his contract

no, he's earned every bit of it and is not only paid for

good, he's top 10 wins the 3 years prior to that

Saban was also making twice as much as Dabo and his
TigersAndCubs
It is irrelevant. Dabo will retire at Clemson.***
