Swinney calls for Notre Dame to join a conference to make College Football Playoffs |
Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney was in Bristol, Connecticut on Monday to take part in the annual ACC Coaches "Car Wash" at the ESPN headquarters.
Swinney was asked about the College Playoffs and if Notre Dame should be invited to play in the College Football Playoffs without being a full member of a football conference. Dabo Swinney agrees w/Gary Pinkel: “Absolutely Notre Dame needs to be in conference or play 13 games to be in @CFBPlayoff" Last week, Missouri head coach Gary Pinkel initiated the Notre Dame discussion about whether they had an unfair advantage regards to entry into the college football playoffs. "I think all independents should join a conference, as a general rule," Pinkel told ESPN.com. "I didn't say Notre Dame in particular – everybody. You don't have independents in the NFL. Leagues are leagues. I just think it's difficult to assess a team that's not in a league. It's nothing against Notre Dame, it's just my opinion." Notre Dame has an agreement with their current ACC schedule through 2025.
