Swinney on the atmosphere at Williams-Brice |
Clemson coach Dabo Swinney took part in the weekly ACC teleconference on Tuesday and answered a question about the type of atmosphere he anticipates at Williams-Brice Stadium for Saturday's rivalry game against the Gamecocks.
“Road games are hard to win especially when you go to a place with a tough environment," Swinney said. "Their fan base is passionate about their team, but that really doesn’t have anything to do with the game. We just have to play well. It’s everything working together. We’ve been a good road team, but this will be a big challenge for us for sure. Our job is to go play well, and if we do, hopefully, it won’t be very loud.” Clemson senior offensive lineman Eric Mac Lain had a slightly different take on the Gamecocks' home atmosphere and said that South Carolina fans have been known to throw the occasional battery or cigarette lighter. Eric Mac Lain says Scar fans aren't funny like other fans, but get derogatory and throw batteries and lighters Clemson will play South Carolina at Williams-Brice Stadium on Saturday afternoon with a 14-game winning streak, the longest active streak in college football. The Gamecocks are 3-8 on the season and will miss out on postseason play.
