Report: Brownell to return to Clemson next season |
Clemson Basketball coach Brad Brownell will be returning to coach for his eighth season at Clemson according to school officials.
Brownell and Clemson athletic director Dan Radakovich met for several hours on Saturday for their annual end-of-year meeting. The duo had another meeting on Monday morning, and Brownell will be the coach next season for the Tigers. Radakovich released a statement on Monday morning about Brownell returning as the coach at Clemson. "As part of a comprehensive season-ending review and evaluation, I met for several hours with Brad Brownell to review the recently completed season and to look ahead to 2017-2018. Both of us believe strongly that we should have achieved more this season and Brad is candid with his own critique and assessment. As we move forward, I expect Brad to make changes in the program to better position us for success. He continues to represent Clemson University with integrity and class, and we will continue to do all that we can to help him as we expect to achieve consistent success with our men's basketball program." Radakovich said to TigerNet on Friday, “I want Brad to succeed here. That is really all I can say right now.” Clemson finished the season with a 17-16 record after finishing 12th in the ACC. The Tigers earned a second-seed in the NIT but were knocked off by seventh-seeded Oakland in Littlejohn Coliseum Tuesday night. The Tigers blew a 20-point second half lead in the contest and lost 74-69. Clemson will keep Brad Brownell for an eighth season, sources have told ESPN.
