this morning, and here are a few quick highlights with story to follow:

*Leggett said he has a renewed enthusiasm this season.

, he and his staff did visit other baseball programs. Leggett said that he and each one of his staff members visited either a college program, a minor league team or a major league team. They did this individually, and he declined to name the teams, but said they learned a few things along the way and he was also able to share some of what's he learned with those teams.

*The new baseball - Leggett said he doesn't expect to see changes with the collegiate bat any time soon. He did say that the new ball seems to be much better than the old one, and pitcher Matthew Crownover said the seams are more consistent and will create better movement. Leggett said that the new balls won't necessarily create more homers, but fans should see more balls in the gap and that it is making the outfielders work harder because it doesn't get in the air and just die.
