Chad Morris talks about his possible future with SMU |
CLEMSON – Offensive coordinator Chad Morris told reporters Saturday afternoon that he hasn’t agreed to anything with SMU, and then said that when the time is right an announcement will be made.
Morris has been linked to the SMU head coaching opening since former head coach June Jones resigned in September, but reports surfaced late Thanksgiving that Morris has already agreed in principle to take a deal with the Mustangs. "I have not agreed to anything with SMU," Morris said outside of Clemson’s locker room. “I had to check twitter this morning to see where I was. Everybody had me everywhere else. The truth of the matter is it's not about me tonight. It's about these kids and these fans." Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said if Morris wants to take the job, he wishes him well. “If Chad has an opportunity and it's something he wants to do and feels good about, I wish him nothing but the best. He's helped us and we've helped him,” Swinney said in his postgame press conference. "Nobody would be happier for him than me." Morris declined to confirm whether he will be in Dallas next week. "When the time comes, we'll come out and say what needs to be said,” he said. “For now, we're going to enjoy the night and I appreciate y'all respecting that."
