WATCH: Clemson, Notre Dame players, and coaches after Tigers' blowout win

DURHAM, NC – Clemson came back from the lightning delay and found lightning in its bats, followed by a hailstorm of baseballs across Durham Athletic Park.

Trailing 3-0 heading into the third, Clemson scored a single run in the third and 17 in the fourth in blowing past Notre Dame 21-4 in pool play in the ACC Baseball Championship Wednesday. The game was called after seven innings due to the NCAA 10-run rule. Clemson and Miami play Thursday at 7 p.m. The winner of that contest advances to Saturday’s semifinals. Clemson improves to 44-13 on the season, while Notre Dame falls to 24-30.

Logan Davidson homered twice and drove in seven runs. Chirs Williams scored four and drove in four, while Jordan Greene drove in three runs

The fourth inning was historic. A 55-minute fourth inning saw 21 Clemson batters come to the plate and 17 Tiger runs scored – a new ACC Baseball Championship record. The previous record was 14 runs scored in an inning set by Clemson in 1975 and 1982. The 17-run inning was the third most runs scored in an inning in Clemson history.

During the inning, Clemson hit 12 hits, four home runs – including two from Davidson, who became the first Clemson player to hit home runs from both sides of the plate in the same inning – and work seven walks against six different Notre Dame pitchers. Seven of Clemson’s nine batters scored at least twice in the inning. The Irish also had six wild pitches in the inning. To put Davidson’s accomplishment in perspective - a major league player has hit home runs from both sides of the plate in the same inning just twice. Carlos Baerga did it for the Indians vs. Yankees in 1993 and Mark Bellhorn for the Cubs vs. Brewers in 2002.
