by - Assoc. Editor -

North Carolina's starting free safety Sam Smiley will miss the ACC Championship game against the Tigers on Saturday. Smiley suffered an injury during the NC State game, and the school announced on Thursday he will miss the rest of the season with a torn Achilles tendon. Smiley is fifth on the team in tackles with 48.

The depth chart released earlier in the week shows junior Dominquie Green is Smiley's backup. Green has played in all 12 games with 25 tackles. True freshman J.K. Britt, who has appeared in 10 games, is listed as third team.

FS 3 SAM SMILEY 5-11 190 Sr.

26 Dominquie Green 5-11 190 Jr.

29 J.K. Britt 6-0 195 Fr.
