Three Tigers in Top 36 CFB player rankings |
The 2017 NFL Draft is done and finished so now media pundits can look forward to the upcoming season as they analyze and critique a new crop of players. NFL.com released its latest article
ranking their Top 50 college football players for 2017 and three Tigers made the list.
Defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence was ranked No. 18 in the rankings and the third defensive tackle listed behind only Houston's Ed Oliver and Michigan's Rashan Gary. "This tall, bullish tackle proved in his first year on campus that the recruiting hype was deserved. He'll anchor Clemson's line as they try to repeat as champions," NFL.com said. Offensive tackle Mitch Hyatt was listed No. 27 overall and the second offensive tackle behind only Texas' Connor Williams. "Hyatt must perform at an All-American level if the Tigers are going to have any chance to return to the College Football Playoff without Deshaun Watson at the helm," NFL.com said. "The junior has the ability to deliver." Defensive tackle Christian Wilkins was rated No. 36 overall on the list. "Despite weighing 300 pounds, Wilkins played strong-side defensive end for the Tigers last season," NFL.com said. "The junior could play inside or outside in the pros, depending on the system."
