Swofford: ACC supports early signing period for football

ACC Commissioner John Swofford said on Thursday at the ACC meetings that the ACC will support an early signing period for football and will recommend it to the Collegiate Commissioners Association.

The proposed date for the early period is August 1. Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney is also in favor of some form of an early signing day.

Swofford also said the league will use 8 officials in conference games this season. The 8th official would be in the offensive backfield.
