Former Clemson standout Deshaun Watson looked like a seasoned veteran in this first NFL preseason game with the Houston Texans on Wednesday night.

Watson finished the night going 15-for-25 passing for 179 yards with zero turnovers and had three rushes for 24 yards including an impressive 15-yard touchdown run.

Fans and national media pundits were impressed with Watson's performance including controversial Fox Sports personality Skip Bayless.

"I saw the first flashes of a young man who will turn into the best quarterback the Houston Texans have ever had in their franchise history," Bayless said. "I saw a Deshaun Watson who should have started last night and should have played at least a little while with the ones versus the ones and should start the next preseason game and be starter versus starter because he deserves to do that."

Bayless thinks that Watson is the total package compared to current Texans' starter Tom Savage.

"Already, clearly his ceiling is much higher than Tom Savage’s," Bayless said. "No disrespect to Tom Savage, but he’s what Bill Parcells would call a J.A.G. – just another guy. Not bad – not great – just like all those other quarterbacks before. I saw the first flashes of Deshaun’s leadership, his electric body language, his playmaking style – he’ll bring things that Tom Savage just can’t."

It was only one NFL preseason game but Bayless appears to be on the Watson bandwagon for 2017.

Bayless also tweeted the following last night while watching the Texans-Panthers game.

"Texans FOOLISH to not make Deshaun the starter NOW," Bayless posted. "He's that good. Ceiling much higher than Savage's. Born-winner intangibles. START HIM. Deshaun Watson has the maturity, poise and big-stage clutchness to do for Texans what Dak did for the Cowboys. DON'T PROTECT HIM. PLAY HIM."
