Rollins named semifinalist for collegiate track & field's highest honor

by -

CLEMSON, SC – Clemson athlete Brianna Rollins, who turned professional just last week, has been named one of 10 national semifinalists for the The Bowerman, the highest honor in collegiate track & field. The Bowerman, which debuted in 2009, is presented annually by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) to the most outstanding male and female collegiate track & field athletes in the nation.

Rollins announced last week she signed with Stellar Athletics and will be running for Nike at this week’s USA Championships in Des Moines, IA. She turned pro with one outdoor season of eligibility left after winning her first NCAA outdoor title in record fashion at Hayward Field in Eugene, OR on June 8. Rollins won two National Championships in 2013, setting collegiate records in both the 60 hurdles and 100 hurdles.

She was recently named the USTFCCCA National Women’s Track Athlete of the Year for the outdoor season. Rollins, who won all 17 hurdle races (including prelims) this past indoor and outdoor season combined, helped the Tiger women’s team to championships in both seasons as well. Rollins never lost an ACC Championship in four seasons at the school.

Three finalists will be announced by the USTFCCCA on Wednesday, July 10. Voting for the final winner - including an online fan vote - will take place from late July to mid-August. The ultimate winner will be revealed at the USTFCCCA Convention in December.
