Clemson, SC—Future Clemson women’s golfer Ashlan Ramsey has been named the National Junior Player of the Week by Golfweek. Ramsey finished 48th overall at the Kraft Nabisco Championship in California last weekend. The 17-year-old from Milledgeville, GA will be a freshman on Clemson’s first women’s golf team this coming fall.

Ramsey shot a two-over-par score of 290 for the 72 hole event that was the first Major Championship of the season on the LPGA Tour. She finished 16th among American golfers and was third among amateurs. Her finished higher in the final standings was better than seven of the top 25 women’s golfers in the world entering the tournament and she tied world number-two Yani Tseng, who just completed a streak of 108 straight weeks as the number-one player in the world.

Ramsey was ranked sixth in the national Junior Amateur standings entering last weekend’s event. She was the highest ranked player on the East coast as four of the top five junior girls are from California.
