President Trump on Deshaun Watson: "He's going to be a great NFL player" |
The Clemson Football team was at the White House on Monday afternoon to celebrate last season's National Championship. Former Clemson star
Deshaun Watson was in attendance as the Texans' owner flew him to the event to make sure he didn't miss the special moment.
President Trump recapped Clemson's National Championship 35-31 win against Alabama in January and gave Watson a lot of love for his performance. "He's going to be a great NFL player," Trump said during the ceremony. "Offensive MVP, quarterback Deshaun Watson, took some very, very hard hits. But he never rattled," Trump said. "He's great under pressure. I've seen that I've heard that. He always got right back up. And he fought, and he fought, and he kept winning. Now he'll bring that toughness together to the Houston Texans." In 2016, Watson completed 388 passes out of 579 attempts for 4593 yards and 41 passing touchdowns with 17 interceptions for an adjusted QBR of 84.9.
