Kirk Herbstreit didn't mince words Saturday when he was asked what Clemson needed to show the country in today's game against Syracuse.

Herbstreit, appearing on ESPN's College GameDay, said Clemson doesn't have to prove anything to anybody.

"I don't think anybody needs to see anything from Clemson," Herbstreit said. "Since 2011, they are 64-12. You know who that is behind? One team .... Alabama. Their quarterback (Deshaun Watson) is the best in the country. Their defense is one of the best in the country. They just need to continue being Clemson. My opinion, they are the team to beat in the entire country. Whether they are sitting at No. 2, whether they are sitting at three, I don't care. To me with the total package of that football team ... to me, Clemson is the best football team in the country."

Clemson is currently ranked second in the College Football Playoff rankings.
