CLEMSON TEAM NOTES

*Clemson played 91 players in the game.

*The 56 points scored served as the highest point total in a season opener for the Tigers since they scored 59 against the Long Beach State 49ers in the 1990 opener.

*The 21 points scored in the first quarter marked the most points scored by the Tigers in the opening quarter of a game since 2000, when they scored 21 against the Citadel Bulldogs.

*The Tigers collected 665 total yards, establishing a new team record for the most yards gained in a season opener by breaking the previous mark of 567 accrued against the Citadel Bulldogs in 1978.

*Clemson has now won 26 of its last 33 season openers.

*Clemson has now won 32 of its last 34 overall, dating back to 2014.

*Clemson has now won 23 of its last 24 games at home.

*Clemson has now won nine in a row in September.

*Clemson has now defeated 47 of its last 48 unranked opponents.

*Clemson has now won 46 straight games when holding teams to under 23 points (dates back to 2010)

CLEMSON INDIVIDUAL NOTES

*Junior quarterback Kelly Bryant made his first career start at quarterback on Saturday. Since 1977, Clemson quarterbacks making their first start are now 17-7.

*Bryant set the Clemson record for total offense in an opening game with 313 total yards, besting the previous record of 312 set by Tajh Boyd in the opener against the Georgia Bulldogs in 2013.

*Bryant set new career highs in passing attempts (22), passing completions (16), passing yards (236) and rushing yards (77). He also threw a career-long 61-yard pass.

Redshirt junior running back C.J. Fuller scored his first rushing touchdown since doing so against the South Carolina Gamecocks in November of 2015.

*Redshirt junior running back Adam Choice scored his first rushing touchdown since doing so against the South Carolina Bulldogs in September of 2014.

*Freshman Will Swinney, who served as a holder on Clemson’s first extra point, became the first head coach’s son to enter a game for Clemson since Jimmy Howard, the son of then-head coach Frank Howard, did so in 1963.

*Redshirt freshman quarterback Zerrick Cooper threw the first touchdown pass of his career on a 14-yard pass to Cornell Powell in the third quarter. The touchdown reception also marked the first touchdown for Cornell Powell in his career.

*Freshman running back Travis Etienne scored the first rushing touchdown of his career on a four-yard run in the fourth quarter.
