Georgia Tech dismissed preseason All-ACC running back Dedrick Mills Friday, according to a school news release.

Mills was among the league's top returning rushers after scoring 12 times and running for 771 yards last season.

The school said Mills violated athletic department rules. He was suspended for three games last season for a violation of team rules.

Mills rushed for 75 yards on 16 carries and the Yellow Jackets' lone score in a 26-7 loss to Clemson last season.

The Tigers host the Yellow Jackets on Oct. 28.
