Former Tigers Record Top 10 on Four Different Tours

by -

Clemson, SC—Former Clemson All-American Kyle Stanley finished sixth at the Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte on the PGA Tour Sunday, giving former Tiger golfers a top 10 finish on four different professional golf tours this weekend.

Stanley had a final round 68 in Charlotte to finish in a tie for sixth place at 283. Ben Margin finished eighth at the Web.com event at the University Georgia, Matt Hendrix finished second at the Savannah Lakes Classic on the NGA Tour and Tanner Ervin won the Columbia Open on the E-Golf Tour. Each of the last three events concluded on Saturday.

For Stanley, it was his second consecutive top 10 finish in two weeks and he is the only PGA Tour player entering the Players Championship in Jacksonville this coming week who can make that claim. Stanley shot a final round 68 on Sunday in difficult conditions. He made a birdie on the 18th hole when his 200-yard second shot finished just three and a half feet from the hole. It was one of just four birdies on the day on the 18th hole at Quail Hollow Country Club.

Stanley finished third last week at the PGA Tour event in New Orleans and is now 46th on the money list this year with $839,453. Stanley’s 68 on Sunday tied for the low round of the day.

Martin had rounds of 69-72-69 for a 210 total at the University of Georgia course in Athens. Martin took home eighth place and is now 23rd on the Web.com money list with $57,358. The top 25 players on the Web.com Tour at the end of the year earn a PGA Tour card for 2014. He has finished in at least 11th place each of his last three events. He will be one of the former Tigers in the field at the upcoming BMW Championship in Greenville, SC this coming weekend.

Hendrix had a 54-hole total of 209 in finishing second at the Savannah Lakes Classic. He won $14,000 in coming within two shots of first place. He led the tournament after the first round with a 65. He then had rounds of 71 and 73 to finish second.

Ervin finished the Columbia Open in Columbia, SC with a 16-under par total of 268 in winning by five shots.
