ESPN: Time for cautious optimism

One thing to keep in mind about Florida State and Clemson: The Seminoles have the easier stretch from here on out, thanks to a more favorable cross-divisional schedule. FSU doesn’t have to play Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech or North Carolina. Instead, the Noles get Duke, Miami and Virginia -- none of which finished this month with a winning record. Clemson, on the other hand, has to travel to Blacksburg this weekend, and has back-to-back games against UNC and Georgia Tech.

Those two losses for Clemson aren’t so farfetched.

With the exception of a respectable start by Wake Forest, the rest of the Atlantic Division mucked its way through September, leaving Clemson and FSU looking like the top two teams in the division.
