D1Baseball NCAA projections for Clemson |
Clemson is seeking an NCAA Tournament national seed for the second time in three seasons and sits squarely on the bubble for that top-8 ranking.
After going 2-1 in Durham's ACC Baseball Championship last week, Baseball America projected the Tigers (45-14) as a No. 10 seed Sunday evening - paired with No. 7 North Carolina, who would host if both advance to the Super Regionals. Conversely, D1Baseball projects Clemson as the final national seed at No. 8, paired with a Stetson-hosted regional. The Tigers are looking to overcome a lower RPI ranking (11) compared to fellow national-seed contenders, including Stetson (4) and North Carolina (8). Monte Lee's group has won 10-straight true road games and gone 8-2 down the stretch, clinching a share of the ACC's top regular-season record (22-8). Other teams D1Baseball projects in Clemson's regional are Baylor (RPI 32), Kentucky (RPI 30) and UNC-Wilmington (RPI 65). Clemson is hosting an NCAA Regional for a third-straight season under Monte Lee but is seeking a first Super Regional and College World Series appearance since 2010.
