Clemson, S.C.—The Clemson men's golf team was selected to the NCAA Tournament for the 36th consecutive year on Thursday. The announcement of the 81-team field that will go to six different regions was made on the Golf Channel.

Clemson will be the No. 3 seed at the College Grove Regional in Tennessee. The 54-hole three-day tournament will be played at The Grove and the tournament host will be Middle Tennessee State. The 13-team tournament will be held May 15-17. Vanderbilt will be the top seed, while Texas Tech will be the second seed.

The 36-year streak of NCAA Tournament appearances is the longest in Clemson athletics history and the second longest active streak in NCAA Men's Golf. Only Oklahoma State has a longer active streak.

This is the 34th consecutive year Clemson has been selected under Larry Penley. Clemson has never missed a NCAA Tournament under his guidance that dates to the 1983-84 season. The program streak started with the 1982 NCAA Tournament under Bobby Robinson.

Clemson enters the NCAA Tournament having won a school record-tying six tournaments this academic year, including four in the spring. The Tigers finished second in the other two spring events, including the ACC Tournament April 21-22 in the most recent outing.

Overall, Clemson has a 141-25 won-loss record against all competition in 11 tournaments, a .849 winning percentage. That is the best winning percentage by a Clemson golf team since the 2002-03 season when Clemson won the National Championship and had a school record .951 winning percentage off an incredible 183-8-3 record.

Penley has three golfers with under a 71.00 stroke average so far this year. Doc Redman is a freshman from Raleigh, N.C. with a 70.36 average, on pace to be the second-best in Clemson history behind D.J. Trahan's 70.33 in 2001-02. Redman has a Clemson freshman record seven top 10 finishes, including two victories.

Carson Young is a senior from Pendleton with a 70.85 stroke average. He has five top 10 finishes, all in the spring when he has recorded 14 under-par rounds. Bryson Nimmer has a 70.94 stroke average and is coming off a tie for first at the end of regulation play at the ACC Tournament two weeks ago. He did not win the four-player playoff, but has six top 10 finishes this year. He has 16 under-par rounds this year.

Senior Austin Langdale has played just six tournaments this year due to injury, but he is expected back for the NCAA Tournament. Langdale was an honorable mention All-American last year. A veteran of five NCAA regional and national tournament appearances, Langdale has a 72.06 average this year with a pair of top 10 finishes.

Freshman William Nottingham rounds out the Clemson lineup with a 72.85 average. He had a school-record score of 62 at the Wolfpack Spring Open in April and had a top 10 finish at the ACC Tournament.
