Clemson commit highlights: Week 1 |
The season started for a number of Clemson commits over the weekend, featuring some standout performances.
Check out week one of the latest highlights from future Tigers: Braden Galloway – 3-star Seneca (SC) TE prospect Galloway did a little bit of everything for Seneca in a 55-6 home win over Berea. The 6-foot-6 athlete played quarterback and receiver, topping 100 yards rushing (107) and passing (102) – including a 56-yard TD connection. Galloway fought off a defender for a red-zone touchdown reception and added a goal line TD rush as well. Derion Kendrick – 4-star South Pointe (SC) WR Kendrick totaled almost 300 total yards in a 39-7 South Pointe win over Rock Hill-rival Northwestern. Kendrick plays quarterback for the Stallions and he completed 20-of-27 throws for 200 yards and a touchdown, adding 97 yards on nine rushes. Trevor Lawrence – 5-star Cartersville (GA) QB The nation's top-rated quarterback cruised in a 35-14 opener win over Allatoona. Lawrence connected on 13-of-19 passes for 230 yards and two touchdowns – one a smooth 40-yard connection over the middle – with one interception. Great start for @CHSHurricaneFB's @Trevorlawrencee.
Kyler McMichael – 4-star Greater Atlanta Christian CB McMichael, the Spartans' leading returning rusher, anchored the state's top-rated 3A team to a 46-14 win over Norcross. He totaled for 93 yards on 15 carries with a touchdown. Check out @kylermc22 from @GACSpartans w tough running for the TD!
Justin Mascoll – 4-star South Gwinnett (GA) DE Mascoll was all over the backfield versus Central Gwinnett in a 28-24 defeat. Mascoll stripped the ball on a sack, added another tackle and forced early throws on five quarterback hurries. Darnell Jefferies – 3-star Newton (GA) DT Jefferies played his part in a highly-disruptive Newton defensive line versus the Drew Titans. He earned at least a share of three tackles for loss on a defense listed with six sacks on the night in a 39-24 win. Darnell Jeffries spoils a QB run attempt. Wow. Newton fell asleep on the fake punt. 1st and 10 for Drew, and we just missed seeing an INT from #ClemsonFamily commit D. Jefferies. Mike Jones Jr. – 4-star IMG (Fla.) Academy OLB Jones Jr. played in an IMG Academy exhibition win over Carol City, 41-22. His night included a fake punt run, tackle and pass breakup. Xavier Thomas – 5-star IMG Academy (Fla.) DE Thomas competed in an IMG Academy exhibition win over Carol City, 41-22, providing a highlight for social media on a sack.

Jake Venables – 4-star Daniel (SC) OLB
Venables started his senior campaign strong by totaling a pair of tackles for loss in a 17-10 road win for Daniel at Berkeley.

Josh Belk – 3-star Lewisville (SC) DT
Belk and his Lewisville Lions dominated the line of scrimmage in holding Andrew Jackson High to under 100 yards in a 30-6 win.
B.T. Potter – 3-star South Pointe (SC) K
Potter played his part with teammate Kendrick in the Stallions' romp of Northwestern, booming kickoffs through the end zone and making field goals from 22 and 31 yards out.
