Clemson SID to concentrate solely on football |
Clemson Sports Information Director Tim Bourret will concentrate solely on football and Athletic Director Dan Radakovich told TigerNet that the move is designed to take advantage of Bourret's encyclopedic knowledge of the football program.
"Tim is an incredible asset for the athletic department and a lot of his institutional knowledge centers around our football program," Radakovich said. "So it made great sense for him to concentrate his efforts there. One of the things we are looking at doing is making sure we have the people doing within our department the things that play to their strengths. We are continuing to do that evaluation and trying to put people in the right spots" Radakovich is currently searching for another person to oversee all sports. He also told TigerNet he is looking improve and streamline communications between the athletic department and the fans in an ever-evolving technological landscape. "We also have to look at how we strategically communicate with our constituency and how best to do that," he said. "It is a changing world as it relates to communications so we want to make sure we are positioning ourselves in the best way that we can to offer our fans the greatest amount of information as they our stakeholders and we want to make sure they have the proper information available to them about our athletic programs in a variety of platforms." Bourret is in his 23rd year supervising the sports information office, his 20th as an assistant athletic director, and his 34th with the Clemson Athletic Department. He first came to Clemson as assistant SID under Bob Bradley in September of 1978 and was elevated to an associate SID position in July of 1980. In 2009, the Clemson Sports Information Office was named to the Football Writers Assocation "Super 11" Team. The award recognized the top 11 SID offices in the nation for their service in working with media covering college football. The SID Office won the award again in 2010 and is one of just five schools nationally to be a Super 11 office each of the last two years.
