The Tigers snapped a two-game losing skid to the Chanticleers, and moved to 6-2 all-time in the series. Cliff Ellis, inducted into the Clemson Hall of Fame this fall as the program’s winningest coach, returned to coach at the same facility he called home from 1984-94. It was the second game he coached against the Tigers at Coastal Carolina (2011-12). Clemson improved to 21-2 all-time and 2-0 this season under Head Coach Brad Brownell when holding the opposition to 50 points or less. The Tigers held the Chanticleers to 40 points Friday, the second time this season an opponent scored 40 or less. It was the first time since 2008-09 that Clemson held multiple teams to 40 or less. The Tigers held Coastal Carolina scoreless for 9:25 of game clock, which spanned the first 13 Chanticleer possessions. Coastal was 0-for-10 from the field to start the game. Clemson opponents have made 24-of-113 three-point goals this season, a .212 figure that ranks among the nation's top 15 defensive percentages. Coastal was just 2-for-15 on Friday. Clemson outrebounded Coastal Carolina by a +19 figure Friday, its largest margin of the season. It was Clemson’s largest margin in any game since the same figure was recorded in the 2009-10 season against College of Charleston. INDIVIDUAL
K.J. McDaniels McDaniels has had at least one blocked shot in 24 of his last 25 games played, dating to last season. His streak ended on Nov. 24 against UMass. McDaniels had three assists Friday, his highest total in 65 career games.
Devin Coleman Coleman made multiple three-pointers for a second straight game, the first time he has done that in his career. Coleman produced career-highs in both minutes played (28) and rebounds (5).
