BOT approves football raises and contract extensions |
Clemson’s Board of Trustees met for a previously scheduled meeting Thursday meeting and on the agenda were raises for Clemson's football coaching staff.
The Board of Trustees Compensation Committee previously approved the hiring of new defensive line coach Todd Bates, and after an executive session approved the raises for assistant football coaches and football staff. Defensive coordinator Brent Venables was awarded an increase to $1.7 million which makes him the second-highest paid assistant in the country behind LSU’s Dave Aranda. The Board of Trustees also approved a contract extension through 2022 for Clemson President Jim Clements, whose contract was set to expire in December of 2018.

** All contracts were extended one year except Batson, Elliott, and Scott who were extended for two years. Conn and Bates also have two years contracts to start their Clemson coaching careers.
** Swinney earned a $1.45 million bonus Clemson's national championship. All 2016 assistants along with Batson and McCorvey, earned a $95,000 performance bonus.
