It was a cold rainy night, but the fews fans that made the trip to the ballpark were treated to 9-6 Tiger victory. The game did not start off well as the Phoenix scored two in the top of the first. Freshman right hander David Kopp gave up a two run homer to Paul Bennett over the left field wall.

The Tigers quickly answered in the bottom of the inning. Herman Demmink and Brad Chalk reached on walks. Taylor Harbin hit a triple off the left centerfield wall for his third triple of season and 48th and 49th RBIs.

The Phoenix gave the Tigers a run in the bottom of fourth. Chalk walked with Stan Widman on third, Elon catcher Matt Stocco failed to call time allowing Widman to steal home. Elon cut the lead to 5-3 in the top of the fifth on an error by Widman.

Then the Tigers fell behind after the Phoenix scored two in the sixth to up 5-4. Demmink had the answer hitting a two run homer for his fourth of the year. Kris Harvey hit his 15th home run of the year in the seventh to provide all the insurance the Tigers would need.

Stephen Clyne pitched 3.0 innings of relief to earn his second save of the season. Clyne struck out four and only gave up one earned run.

An interesting note following the game, Head Coach Jack Leggett had a very lengthy and animated discussion with his team. They will take field tomorrow night against Wofford at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
