How big of an impact will Spiller’s signature be?
The impact is immeasurable at this point. Clemson just signed the number one player in Florida. To be honest, it has really not sunk in yet. We knew Monday night that Spiller was leaning to Clemson, but when you hang around long enough, you learn 48 hours in recruiting is a lifetime. Clemson has just busted the gates wide open in Florida. Dabo Swinney did an amazing job landing two top ten players from Florida. The big three can no longer hide behind their name. Parity has struck home in Florida. With signing the #1 defensive end and #1 running back, Clemson has launched itself on the scene.
Will Billy Napier be hired to replace Jack Hines?
From our understanding, it is just a matter of time before he is announced. This is a hire we fully support. Napier is going to be an outstanding recruiter for Clemson.
Can the unthinkable happen Saturday in Chapel Hill?
Yes, it can and it will happen. Clemson matches up very well with North Carolina. Florida State is a more difficult match-up for Clemson than UNC. I understand officiating may be an issue, but this is the year the streak ends. UNC has trouble protecting the ball much like Georgia Tech and Wake Forest. Is it going to easy for Clemson of course not, but I do believe the Tigers upset UNC on Saturday. Tyler Hansborough is the key for North Carolina, but Clemson’s ball pressure will make it difficult for him to get into a flow. Vern Hamilton and Sam Perry can attack the basket against the Tar Heels and get easy baskets. This is the year the match-ups clearly favor Clemson.
Who may be the biggest surprise?
Watch for Chris Hairston in the future. He is only 16 years old. After he hits the weight room and gets some college coaching, he may become a very good player for the Tigers.
