Four Juniors Stand Above The Rest

by - Correspondent -

The class of 2006 in the Palmetto State has several headliners, but four have emerged from the pack. Clifton Geathers, Byron Maxwell, Ricky Sapp, and Prince Miller are currently head and shoulders above the other juniors.

Prince Miller and Byron Maxwell are both defensive backs that are coveted by several programs across the country. Defensive back will be an area of focus for Clemson in '06. Coach Vic Koenning would love to lock down the two in-state propects.

Clifton Geathers and Ricky Sapp both could be dominant defensive lineman at the college level, but Geathers could also be a offensive lineman. We have seen recently how a dominant edge rusher can change a defense. Geathers and Sapp both have the ability to become premier edge rushers in college.

This is not a knock on the rest of the 2006 class, but rather a compliment to these four players. There is probably around 5 or 6 more players that will have 15 to 20 offers including Tori Childers and BJ Phillips.
