Elon (26-17) travels to Doug Kingsmore stadium on Tuesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15. Head Coach Jack Legget will be looking to turn his fortunes around against the Phoenix. Coach Leggett is 3-6 all time versus Elon (2-3 at Clemson).
Elon has shown the ability in the past to upset some very good Clemson teams. In 2002, Elon knocked off the Tigers 8-6, when Clemson was ranked #1. Last season, the Tigers split a two game series versus Elon.
Freshman right hander David Kopp gets the nod on the mound Tuesday night. Last week, Kopp continued to pitch well in his performance against South Carolina. Kopp has a 4.39 ERA with 27 strikeouts to only 13 walks. Kopp has really shown brilliant control as against Western Carolina earlier this year he three 23 of his first 26 pitches for strikes.
Taylor Harbin will be playing his first game since being announced ACC Player of the Week for the first time in his career. Harbin leads the Tigers attack with 47 RBIs and 18 doubles. Tyler Colvin riding a 15-game hitting streak is tied for the team lead with 18 doubles. Kris Harvey leads the ACC with 14 homers, and Herman Demmink now leads the Tigers with a .371 batting average. The Tigers are batting .341 with runners in scoring position.
This is the final week before the Tigers have a break for final exams. Clemson will look to gain momentum heading into the break. Wofford will travel to Clemson Wednesday night before the weekend series versus ACC leader Georgia Tech.
