Clemson News & Notes

- Clemson and Virginia Tech are the only two schools in the country to have not lost a fumble all season. Under running backs coach Burton Burns, ball security has always been a strong point for Clemson.

- Clemson is one of three schools in the ACC to average 4.0 yards per rush. Wake Forest and Boston College are the only other two schools to average 4 yards or more per rush. The Tigers are sixth in the ACC in rushing, which is a solid showing considering the Tigers are ninth in rushing attempts.

- Offensive coordinator Rob Spence was expected to increase the completion percentage of Clemson’s quarterbacks. Halfway through the season, he has done just that. Clemson’s passing attack leads the ACC with a 66.3% completion percentage.

- Tye Hill is tied for fourth and 16th nationally with three interceptions. It is not where Hill wants to be, but SID Tim Bourret joked with Hill on Tuesday saying, “It is way ahead of last year’s pace.” Hill smiled and nodded his head.

- Anthony Waters is third in the ACC with 61 tackles. Waters is averaging 10.2 tackles per game. He ranks behind Maryland’s D’Qwell Jackson (14.4) and NC State’s Stephen Tulloch (13.4). Waters leads the ACC in tackles for loss.

- Jad Dean leads the ACC in field goals per game at 2.33. Dean is second in the ACC in kicking percentage at 87.5% (minimum 10 attempts).

- Clemson is fifth in the ACC and total offense and third in first downs. The Tigers’ offense is first in the ACC in red zone offense. The Tigers are 23 of 24 in the red zone with 13 touchdowns.

- One basketball note, Oliver Purnell’s team will hold an Orange and White scrimmage in Littlejohn Coliseum Friday night at 7 pm. It is free and open to public.
