spent the afternoon on the Clemson campus, but instead of touring Clemson’s athletic facilities, Woods was more interested in seeing the academic side of things.

Woods is a 3-star prospect out of Jackson (Ga.), and he told TigerNet Thursday evening that he spent around four hours at Clemson.

“We spent time with [defensive line coach] Dan Brooks,” Woods said. “I came up there with my mom and one of my high school teammates, and he showed us around the campus. He showed me the academic side of it, and I hadn’t seen that before. We then went around the campus, and he showed us where the new indoor practice facility would be.”

Woods said he plans to major in physical therapy, and it was important for him and his mother to see Vickery Hall.

“She obviously liked it,” he said. “She liked how they are hands-on and everything. I love the center, and how you can use that 1-on-1 time and study hall. I feel like a place like that would help a lot if I went there. I talked to some of the tutors that were there, and they told me about a lot of the requirements. My mom wanted to see if this was a place I would fit in to.”

Woods said the visit ended with a conversation with Brooks, who would be Woods’ position coach if he became a Tiger.

“He was telling me all about Clemson, and how it is a great school,” he said. “He told me that Clemson is all about family, and I already knew that about Coach [Dabo] Swinney. That is one of the things I really like about Clemson. He was telling me that he was planning on me coming in and playing as 3-technique guy for him, because they have had a lot of guys that have either graduated or been drafted over the last couple of years.”

“I knew he was there, but I didn’t see him or talk to him,” Woods said. “I know Big Mon, because we played together in an all-star game. I would have liked to have seen him, but it just didn’t happen.”

Woods said he plans on visiting both Vanderbilt and South Carolina in July, but really doesn’t know when he will make a decision.

“Right now I don’t know when I will make a decision,” he said. “At this point, I am thinking about trimming my list down to five by the end of the summer. You can take five official visits, and I want to have those five schools chosen before then. I know everything will work out.”

Woods said Clemson had a “very high chance” of making that top five.

Woods recorded 99 tackles as a junior, a total that included 15 tackles for loss and seven sacks.
