will not enroll in Clemson this week, but instead will return home to Aiken to continue to work out and will make preparations to take the ACT again, according to Troy Davis, the head coach at Hargrave Military Academy.

Tankersley, out of Silver Bluff High School, was originally in the 2012 signing class for Clemson as a defensive back, but spent this past fall at Hargrave Military Academy in an effort to earn the credits that would allow him to start classes at Clemson.

However, his ACT scores missed the requirement by one point, according to Davis.

“He missed the ACT, and he will go home and take it as many times as he needs to this spring,” Davis told TigerNet Sunday afternoon. “He will do what he has to do and hopefully he will be able to start Clemson later in the spring. He is a high character guy, and I am looking forward to seeing him as a Tiger.”

Davis said that Tankersley, who projects as a safety at Clemson, moved to corner at Hargrave and played outstanding.

“I can’t say enough about him,” Davis said of the 6-2, 200-pounder. “He came in and bought into the corner spot and made progress with it. When all is said and done, he could be like Jonathan Meeks and move back to free safety.”

Davis said that Tankersley improved his coverage skills by playing corner for Hargrave.

“Playing corner is something he had to work at,” he said. “He had to get better rotation in his hips, and he had to really learn how to play corner. The last game, I moved him back to the safety spot, but his athleticism and his letting me play him at corner allowed me to use some other guys at other spots.”

He then said that he doesn’t know what Clemson’s plans are for Tankersley, but he could play any of the defensive backfield spots.

, he was saying that he would be a strong safety for them,” Davis said. “But I moved him to corner because he is just so talented. He is a bigger corner, and he had to work on it, but it is something he wanted to do so he could help the team. Now he can play corner or safety. He can move around in the defense.”
