would make a nice late Christmas gift for the Clemson coaching staff, but a visit to Syracuse a weekend ago has added another wrinkle into the process.

Ogundeko is the 4-star outside linebacker/defensive end prospect out of Brooklyn (NY) Thomas Jefferson – the No. 1-rated prospect in the state of New York - who recently narrowed his college choices down to Clemson and Florida, with Clemson thought to have a slight lead.

However, the 6-3, 240-pounder took a visit to Syracuse a little over a week ago and came away thinking that the Orange may have joined the fray for his services.

Ogundeko spoke with TigerNet Tuesday evening, and detailed the specifics of his visit.

“It went really well,” he said. “That was my third or fourth time going there, and that was by far my best visit. It was a lot of fun. I wanted to see some things I hadn’t seen before, and I was able to do that.”

He said he managed to hang out with the players and get in some entertainment.

“I always like hanging out with the players,” he said. “We ate really good, and I got to see my favorite rapper, French Montana. It was just a great visit.”

As a result, he said that Syracuse now occupies the top spot, along with Clemson.

“Right now, I can’t really say I have a favorite,” he said. “I like both Clemson and Syracuse. They are 50-50. I am going to think a lot about it between now and the Under Armour game, and then I will make my decision.”

Ogundeko plans to enroll early, and said he has already applied at Clemson. He also heard from the Clemson coaches last week before the dead period went into effect.

“I heard from them just last week,” he said. “They were checking up on me and stuff. We didn’t really talk about anything specific. There is just something about Clemson, and the distance from home doesn’t really bother me. I like them a lot.”

As a senior, he had 71 tackles and 16 sacks. As a junior, he recorded 39 tackles and 11 sacks.
