’s Twitter account this weekend saying that he was going to de-commit from Clemson, sending the Twitter and recruiting world into a bit of a frenzy.

Daniel is the 4-star defensive end out of Avon (IN) who committed to the Tigers after a visit to the Clemson campus back in June, but Daniel’s commitment to the Tigers has seemed shaky in recent weeks, leading many to believe the tweet when it was sent out.

Daniel later took the tweet down and said his account had been hacked, but the Clemson coaches contacted Daniel on Monday just to make sure that everything was still good with the 6-3, 249-pounder.

“I talked to them on Monday,” Daniel told TigerNet Tuesday evening. “I talked to Coach [Marion] Hobby and Coach [Brent] Venables and Coach [Dan] Brooks. They were just asking me how things were going and how we were doing in the playoffs. Checking in on me. They just told me to keep doing good.”

Daniel admits that Ole Miss, Florida and Miss. St. are recruiting him hard, and shortly after a portion of the Clemson crowd booed during the swearing-in ceremony for ROTC cadets as part of Clemson’s Military Appreciation Day – right after it was announced they had to obey the President of the United States – the tweet from Daniel’s account showed up.

“Im goin to decommit from clemson tigers today just don't feel lik its the right fit for me and family doesnt think either,” the tweet said, and many wondered whether the booing had anything to do with the tweet.

Daniel says no.

“Nah, I really didn’t even hear about that,” he said. “I didn’t even know I had been hacked until someone sent me a text, and then they sent me a picture of the tweet. I took it down once I saw that.”

Daniel says that right now, he is simply concentrating on football and not recruiting. His school district has gone to the year-round school model, and he is currently in the middle of a two-week fall break.

“I really feel like the year-round model right now,” he said. “You can do so much with football and just concentrate on football. We are in the second round of the playoffs right now – we won 38-14 last week and we did really good. I had 10 tackles and one sack. So I like it because we can concentrate on the playoffs.”

Daniel said he will figure out what is going on with his recruiting once the season ends.

“I am still standing by my commitment to Clemson,” he said. “I am trying to not get caught up in all of that until after the season. I am not even sure of my schedule for visits. I am just committed to Clemson, and other schools are talking to me. That is all it is.”
