Clemson gets another visit from Jones, continues to be his leader

The 6-6, 285-pound tackle out of Ninety Six was back on campus Friday night and Saturday for another visit, and he said the Clemson coaching is getting used to seeing Jones in Clemson.

“Actually, they told me to not come back, ever again,” Jones told TigerNet with a laugh. “They were just saying that seeing me around so much is a good thing for them. They love to see me around here.”

Jones arrived on campus Friday afternoon, and he spent time with recruiter Jeff Scott and offensive line coach Robbie Caldwell. He spent the night with backup quarterback Cole Stoudt, and then hung out with fellow line prospect and friend, Patrick DeStefano Patrick DeStefano

“It was just another visit for me, and just another chance for me to look at everything,” he said. “Patrick and I had planned on meeting up and hanging out. I would love to play with him in college, but he has a lot more choices than I do. We had been planning to do this for a while now. We were able to hang with Cole and center Dalton Freeman.”

Jones has offers from Clemson and South Carolina, and says the Tigers are at the top of his list.

“Clemson, they are definitely at the top,” he said. “They always start off the conversation with me. I am so familiar with the coaches and players and stuff, and with that being my first offer, they are always important. That first offer is always going to stick out.”

Jones, who missed his junior season with a knee injury, is sure to draw more offers once he has proven the knee won't be a problem, and he is drawing interest from Alabama, North Carolina, North Carolina St. and Georgia.

Last weekend, the junior was in Tuscaloosa, where he ran into a couple of familiar faces – former Clemson coaches Billy Napier and Chris Rumph.

“It was nice to see them because I haven’t seen them since the bowl practice,” Jones said. “It has been a while, so it was good seeing them again and catching back up.”
