Wake Forest Review

Clemson had its most complete performance of the season this past week with the 56-7 win over Wake Forest.

The Tigers were crisp on offense from the start by scoring three touchdowns in the first seven and a half minutes of the game. It only took the Tigers three plays the score when Tajh BoydTajh Boyd

for a 64-yard touchdown pass.

The offense looked in a rhythm and was balanced throughout the day. Clemson had 27 first downs, 166 yards rushing, and the quarterbacks combined to throw for 407 yards. The Tigers totaled 573 yards on 83 plays.

The Tigers went 8-17 on third downs and 3-4 on fourth downs. Clemson also went 6-6 in the red zone including all six trips resulting in touchdowns.

Boyd looked crisp once again. He was 17 of 24 for 311 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions. Boyd was also the Tigers leading rusher with 69 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries.

The Clemson quarterbacks combined to go to 28 of 36 for 407 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions.

had 24 yards and CJ Davidson scored two touchdowns including his first as a Tiger.

The offensive line came into the game with some injuries but I thought they played well throughout the game against a solid defensive front.

Defensively Clemson was just as impressive. The Tigers held Wake Forest to 222 yards including only 60 on the ground. Clemson held Wake Forest to 1.9 yards per carry. The Tigers also held Wake to 2-14 on 3rd down conversions.

had punt returns of 18 and 16 yards, respectively.

In summary it was a very good win. The veterans took care of business early. This allowed the newcomers to play more snaps and they also responded by playing well. In fact three Tigers CJ Davidson, Jordan Leggett and Mike Williams all scored their first touchdown Tigers. Clemson simply outclassed Wake Forest but did it with their depth as well. All in all this was the most complete win of the season.
