The Citadel Review

I am not sure Saturday could have gone any better.

What a beautiful day! The weather forecast was not good earlier in the week so the actual weather was a pleasant surprise.

Military Appreciation Day was once again perfect. Bowman Field has never looked better than on this day. The ceremonies were appropriate and touching.

The purple out went better than I expected and added to the day.

Offensively, Clemson scored at least 50 points for the third straight game and the fifth time this season, both school records.

Defensively, Clemson held The Citadel to -4 passing yards in the game. That is the fewest passing yards by an opponent in Clemson history. The Tigers also held the Citadel to 172 yards of total offense.

The Citadel head coach Kevin Higgins said, "Their defensive scheme is the best we have gone against in our four years running the triple option. The talent they have is something we have not seen in a long time. Brent VenablesBrent Venables

did a great job with that scheme against Georgia Tech, and he did a great job against us."

And our seniors had their moment running down the hill and many had great days on the field.

got his curtain call after five first half touchdown passes giving him 102 passing touchdowns for his career. He is the 18th player in NCAA history to reach the century mark and the first player in ACC history to do so. Boyd threw five touchdown passes for the sixth time in his career. It was also the third time that he accomplished the feat in the first half. With the win, Boyd now has 31 wins as a starting quarterback, just one shy of the Clemson record of 32 held by Rodney Williams.
