Seventeen Student-Athletes Earn Degrees on Saturday |
Clemson, SC—Seventeen current or former Clemson student-athletes received degrees during summer graduation ceremonies at Littlejohn Coliseum Saturday morning. The 17 students represented 10 different sports.
Four members of the Clemson football team, including three active players received undergraduate degrees. The list of active players included first-team preseason All-ACC offensive tackle Chris Hairston, starting cornerback Byron Maxwell and reserve running back Daniel Barnes. Former linebacker Byron Clear also graduated (in three years), while strength coach Damonte McKenzie, a former Clemson player, earned his master’s degree. Clemson will have six active players on the 2010 roster with degrees. Maxwell, Hairston and Barnes are joined by Mike Wade, Richard Jackson and Terrance Ashe who had earned their degrees earlier. Former first-team All-ACC basketball player Trevor Booker also earned his degree on Saturday. Booker was the leader of the winningest four-year period in Clemson basketball history. The list of graduates included three members of the women’s soccer program, Molly Franklin, Kathyrn Vogel and Paula Pritzen, and volleyball players Didem Ege and Jessica Williams also earned degrees. Ege was the ACC Defensive Player of the Year last year and she helped the Clemson volleyball program to three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.
