TigerNet Talk: Getting off the Rollercoaster

It wasn't that long ago that being inconsistent was the only thing consistent about Clemson football. Tommy Bowden's teams had a knack for finding a way to lose the games they shouldn't. It seemed as if every moment of brilliant football was followed by a disaster that left Clemson fans scratching their heads.

's weight gain and coupled that with a lack of composure under pressure as the teams biggest issue. Finally others looked no further than the 70-33 loss in the Orange Bowl and felt the collapse was all on the defense.

No matter how you felt after last season, or who you blamed- this year has started in a very similar fashion. Clemson is playing well and has a chance to start 8-1 for a second straight season at Duke this weekend.

Much like last year the final four regular season games will determine if we have finally turned a significant corner. It's not the corner of perfection, but it's one towards consistency.

Being consistent is almost as valuable as being perfect in college football. Being consistent means you should start the season ranked in a position to finish as one of the top teams no matter your conference affiliation. Being consistent will be even more valuable once we expand to a four team playoff as the door to the title is opened a bit wider.

I don't need my Tigers to be perfect. I need them to be consistent.
