, and with three visits in place over the next three weeks TigerNet caught up with Fields for an update.

The 5-11, 190-pounder out of Cornelius (NC) Hough announced recently that he was visiting Clemson on January 16th, Texas January 23rd and LSU on January 30th. Fields de-committed from South Carolina in December and is one of the final targets for the Clemson coaching staff.

Since opening up his recruitment, however, Fields said it’s been business as usual.

“It hasn't been too much. I've only been talking to the schools that were interested in me and it's not a lot,” Fields told TigerNet Sunday. “It's pretty much just Clemson – which is the main one - and then there's Texas. That's about it.”

Field received an offer from LSU earlier this month, and he said that he isn’t sure what to expect on the visit or on the visit to Austin.

“I'm not sure. I'm just going down there to take a visit,” he said. “They kind of came in at the last minute so I'm not really looking for anything. I'm just going down there to I guess hang out. I can't even tell you right now (what’s he looking for from Texas). I'm going with my dad and we haven't even really talked about anything yet. I'm going to ask him about that a little bit later. Just to get a visit in and take a visit to a school that I'm interested in.”

Meanwhile, Fields has kept up a steady stream of contact with Clemson’s coaches.

“Yes, all of the time. They just tell me that they can't wait to get me up there for a visit,” Fields said.

Fields attended the U.S. Army All-American Game in San Antonio last week, and while he didn’t play because of a finger injury he still enjoyed his time in Texas.

“It was awesome and it was a great experience,” he said. “I didn't get to play because of my finger but I still got to experience it and get all of my gear. It was pretty cool. I met a lot of people but I already knew a lot of them from The Opening and stuff but I made a few friends.”

Since returning home from San Antonio, Fields has taken notice of Clemson’s 2015 recruiting class, including the addition of 5-star defensive tackle Christian Wilkins Christian Wilkins

last week.

“Clemson has real great 2015 class with a lot of good d-linemen coming in,” he said. “Clemson is always going to recruit good offensive weapons but the defense is on the rise. Coach Venables - from the d-line all the way back to the secondary - has a top-notch defense now.”

He said he also took notice of Tiger corner Mackensie Alexander’s comments that Clemson has the potential to turn into ‘DB U.’

“Absolutely I think that can happen with the DB’s that they've got coming in along with Mackensie and some of the other guys that they've got there now,” Fields said. “I really think that that can happen. Coach (Mike) Reed is a great, great DB coach. I feel like his coaching style fits me perfectly and by all means I think they can have it.”
