Memo released to the media this afternoon from President

As promised in a recent e-mail letter to the campus, I am appointing a President?s Task Force on Athletic Admissions to examine every aspect of our current process for student-athlete admissions and recommend any changes that will ensure that Clemson?s process has a level playing field with our competition while preserving academic integrity. I ask that you serve on the task force.

The task force will comprise:

Dr. Jan Murdoch, Dean of Undergraduate Studies

I am also appointing a Resource Group to work with the task force. These individuals will be available to provide background, data, benchmark information from other institutions, and significant professional insights about recruiting and admissions issues. Each member of the Resource Group will have the opportunity to interact with the task force throughout this process; however, the task force may solicit information from other sources as needed.

The Resource Group will comprise:

Dr. Larry LaForge, NCAA Faculty Representative

Head Football Coach Tommy Bowden

Head Men?s Basketball Coach Oliver Purnell

Head Baseball Coach Jack Leggett

Dr. Janie Hodge, Chair of the Athletics Council

Barbara Kennedy-Dixon, Senior Women?s Administrator/Associate Athletic Director

I ask that the work of the task force be completed by March 30.
