Virgil is a dual-threat prospect out of the same high school as Sumner-Gardner – West Mesquite – and he said it was a good opportunity to get to know Morris.

“I had never met him before, so it was good to see him,” Virgil told TigerNet. “He talked to us about Clemson and how he would love to have the both of us there. He wasn’t here for very long, but he also told me that he would like to get me to come to Clemson for their summer camp.”

Virgil said the long distance from Mesquite to Clemson might propel to take the same route that Sumner-Gardner took last season – a long bus ride. Sumner-Gardner took the bus to Swinney’s camp last June. Sumner-Gardner announced late Thursday that he had de-committed from Clemson.

“I might just have to take the bus,” Virgil said. “I guess that Dylan and I could ride together if he decides to go back. But I was talking to my mom about it, and she doesn’t really like that idea, so we might drive or even fly.”

Virgil said he recently received an offer from Missouri, and Clemson is the favorite as other schools begin to show a lot of interest.

“I am hearing from Texas A&M, West Virginia and Baylor,” he said. “But Clemson was that first offer, and they were the offer I was really looking for. I know I have a lot of time, because it is two years before I have to make the final decision.”

He said Morris also invited him to one of Clemson’s junior days, but the distance is just too great for such a short trip.

“I am going to go to Baylor’s junior day, and probably Texas A&M,” he said. “But those are really the only two I will go to this year. Right now, I am just going to keep working hard and listen to what everybody has to say.”

Virgil did say, however, that he would love to play in Morris’ offense.

“I know the kind of offense they run at Clemson because we run it here,” he said. “I think I would fit into Clemson’s offense very well because I run it at my high school. It would be a fun offense to play in.”

Virgil started at quarterback as a freshman and almost tripled his stats from his freshman year to his sophomore year. As a freshman, he threw for 758 yards and eight touchdowns. His sophomore season, he passed for 2300 yards and 21 touchdowns while rushing for 400 yards and five touchdowns.
