864-834-6060 Phase Four The West Zone Project will apparently be done in three phases. The first phase will be complete before the season. Phase Two will include the day-to-day operations of the football program like the coaches’ offices, weight room, etc. If there is a Phase Three it will be the museum for sports and military heritage. But, I would like to see Phase Four. In my plans Phase Four would be the move of the football practice fields from their current location to the parking lot area right behind the West End zone. I think this would look great. It would be very convenient for the players, coaches and staff. It would also help recruiting. Can you imagine having a kid in Coach Bowden’s office and show him the stadium, meeting rooms, weight room, training room and practice fields all within the same area? Everything a football player needs athletically would be within the same block. How awesome would that look? Beside the costs the only downside is the parking that would have to be moved but that lot is really only used a few days per year. The student athlete would benefit greatly. What do you think? Danny Cannon I think it is time we recognize a new Clemson legend. Danny Cannon does not miss a Clemson home sporting event. Some of you may not know him, but most everyone has heard him. It never gets old to hear him lead the fans in “Take Me Out to the Ballpark” during the seventh inning stretch. But my favorite is the inning where they introduce the batgirls and Cannon responds to every name. There are those who may give more money than Cannon, but no one gives more support to the men and ladies that don the orange and purple. President Wilhelm Many of America’s most popular sports stars have gone on to political careers. Recently, Lynn Swann announced he was a candidate for governor of Pennsylvania. Former Husker head coach Tom Osborne just lost in his bid for governor in his home state. We have seen Steve Largent, J.C. Watts, Bill Bradley and several others make huge gains in the field of politics. Who would you like to see expand their Clemson career to politics? I would love to see former Clemson baseball coach Bill Wilhelm run the country. His no-nonsense approach would be fun to watch. Simplicity is the answer, and Wilhelm is the man. Wilhelm in 2008! Danny Ford would love to shake hands with everyone in this state during the campaign. I think he would like the campaign part, but not the bureaucracy if he were elected. Friday-Answer your e-mails The radio show should look like this in the fall: Monday-Your phone calls on the past weekend. I never have Monday guest. Instead I give you a chance for your feedback. Tuesday-Bowden Press Conference. Spurrier Press Conference. Wednesday-ACC Teleconference. SEC Teleconference. Play-by-play guy from Clemson’s upcoming opponent. Play-by-play guy from USC’s next opponent. Thursday-Walt Deptula Friday-Scott Rhymer of Tigernet, Tony Morrell of Gamecockcentral.com I have laid out the schedule for the blog and radio show for the summer months. We will take a position every week and break it down. On the radio show we will look at that week’s position for Clemson and rank the ACC by position on Monday. Tuesday we will do the same thing for the SEC and USC. Wednesdays I will have my national rankings of college players at the position. Thursdays we will have Walt Deputla’s thoughts on the featured position. Fridays will feature the top high school players at that position.
